Board of DirectorsExpectations for the Board of DirectorsThe Board of Directors is the guardian of the agency, understanding, protecting and promoting its mission, its services to clients and the internal operations including financial oversight that preserve its healthy functioning. Members of the Board are the ambassadors of the agency, assuring that the agency maintains a positive public image that will attract clients who can benefit from services and attract financial resources and talent at the Board, Staff and Volunteer level to support and enhance service delivery. In other words, Board members bring the word about the agency to the community and bring resources from the community to the agency. The Board provides for adequate leadership on the Board level and the Executive Director level. (The Board recruits, trains and evaluates the E.D.) The Board of Directors works collaboratively with the Executive Director to set policy and develop strategic plans. The activities of the Board support the mission of the agency. The staff carry out the direct service work of the agency. The Board ensures that the agency has the resources needed to support the mission and the work of the agency.
